Understanding Publications

What is a Publication?

A Publication is a content layout that defines:

  • What content displays (media items, apps, playlists)
  • How content is arranged (layout with regions)
  • Where content displays (which screens)

Think of a publication as a template or design for your digital signage display.

Key Components

Layout

  • The arrangement of regions on the screen
  • Templates like full-screen, split-screen, quad layout
  • Defines how content is divided and positioned

Regions

  • Individual areas within a layout
  • Each region holds one media item
  • Can be different sizes and positions

Content

  • Media items assigned to each region
  • Can be images, videos, apps, or playlists
  • Defines what actually displays

Example Publication

Name: "Lobby Welcome Display"

  • Layout: Split screen (2 regions)
  • Region 1: Company logo image
  • Region 2: Weather app
  • Assigned to: Lobby Display Screen
